I have a pattern for a winter coat, knitted with a double strand of wool. The first strand is chunky, fair enough I know what that is, but the second strand is 'Patons Divine' Is it like chunky?Or is it double knitting or 4 ply? I don't want to buy expensive wool in case I don't like the coat when its knitted

Hi Tasi
Patons Divine is a mohair-type yarn, usually knitted on 6 mm needles. I think that would give a fairly loose tension, but if you are doubling up with chunky, then I guess it would result in a fluffy fabric, made more dense by the chunky. Sounds just right for a coat to me. The only problem I have with mohair yarn is that it sheds all over my trousers, which are usually black, when I am knitting. I should remember to dress to match my knitting! Good luck with it - you are very brave to be knitting a coat!

Thanks Sally. Like you I am no fan of mohair, but I can easily find an alternative
