I was going to be a customer, hopefully a returning and regular one, but on discovering that the postal rate is double that which the post office charges, I will not now be placing an order. I am of course, always happy to add an ammount for p & p, but not double! Anyone else feel the same as me?

I think the wool is good value, but the postage and packing seems a bit steep but suppose thats where the money is made.on the p/p side. ann

Try the maths and you'll see that the huge discounts Kemps give on wool more than make up for the postage costs. I've found that it's cheaper to buy here than anywhere else, and that includes going to a shop in person so there are no postage costs!

Goods sent through Royal Mail, if they are VATable must have VAT added over and above the cost of postage. Even though the post office is exempt from VAT this and a small packaging charge which is also VATable is why the postage apears to be a lot more than the post office charges. We often lose money on postage and in some cases when we can save the customer postage we refund the difference. barry (kemps wool shop)

I dont find the postage to be a problem to be honest. i have seen worse postage charges in more well known shops.

Definitely do the maths & see if you're better off elsewhere. I doubt it. Buy more wool & you go into a flat rate for postage, thus bringing your price per ball down even lower. You won't find a better online shop than Kemps. Their customer service is second to none & have very many repeat customers. Check us out on Ravelry if you need further confirmation.

I agree the staff are so friendly when you ring up and are helpful. The wool is such a bargain I think that cancels out the postage anyway. Where else can you buy quality branded wool for prices like 59p -99p a ball. It costs me a couple a pounds plus parking again a couple of pounds to drive to the nearest shop selling wool .Then they don't have a big choice and charge top dollar. The delivery service is very efficient too. I have had patterns the next day and parcels by carrier the day after. My only problem like others I suspect is my eyes are bigger than the speed I can knit, hence a stash that should see me well into old age.

Yes, I do agree it's a bit pricey and have said so on the forum before. Having said that, I think you will be hard pressed to find cheaper wool on any other site especially the clearance wools which I mainly buy. I also think their patterns are a bit expensive too!! Oh dear, look out me.

costs me more in bus fare to go to shop, although i do like to visit shop now and again, but with all the bargains, its lethal. Also, one wooli bought was £3 cheaper per ball, so paying postage was well worth it
