I have a pattern for a girls cardigan which calls for Big Softie wool. (Pattern 9197) I see from the site that Big Softie takes 10mm and 8mm needles. As Kemps have some less expensive wool, Bonus Galaxy I wondered if I could use this instead. The site says this uses 6.5mm needles so does this mean it would be unsuitable (why does this happen, are some chunky wools different chunkiness to others?) I have only been knitting scarfs but have now knitted one for everyone I know and want to branch out!! Can anyone advise, offer an explanation Thanks Chris

Big softie is actually a super chunky, so it's even thicker. Bonus chunky would be too thin for this pattern. You could try denim ultra as that knits the same, or rowan country, which has been discontinued and can be quite cheap to buy. Good luck with whatever you decide! Janine

Thank you so much for the advice! I have so much to learn!! You have saved me making an expensive mistake, buying the wrong wool!
