Hi, I have recently started knitting again. I have some arthritis now and wondered if wooden needles would be better for me. Has anyone used KnitPro needles please? Pauline.

Hi..
I haven't used those needles but I do use bamboo wooden needles the wool seems to slide over the bamboo. The more you use the wooden ones the better they become I think the natural oils in the wool make them smooth so the yarn slides. Much better then the metal one's I wouldn't go back to using them. I hope this is of some use.

Thanks for the help. The KnitPro needles set is expensive so I didn't want to buy without asking. They do interchangable sets.....don't know if I fancy these. Pauline.

Hi, last Christmas I discovered KnitPro interchangeable wooden needles and first thought I had found my dream needles, they are so beautiful and looked so promising! So I bought on the net two pairs and three cables. When they arrived it appeared that the cable is pretty thin, and as I am a fast knitter I like the stitches to slide smoothly from the cable onto the needle and they did not. Apart from that when not screwed on very tightly with the special small key that comes with the needles, the cable gets slightly unscrewed at times, so the stitches get stuck. I have to say though they are perfect for knitting lace as they have very fine tips, but all in all they did not prove to be the best choice for me. Luckily I discovered bamboo circular needles with a silicone cable that is about as thick as the body of the needle at http://www.nzwools.co.uk. They are just perfect, and as the price is very reasonable and delivery is free, it is well worth buying several pairs instead of interchangeable cables. They come in 50, 80 and 100 cm lengths. The adress is UK, but they are in New Zealand, so it usually takes about 10 days to receive them in Europe. They are the best I have ever used, I have recommended them to all my knitting friends and everybody who has tried them are very happy with them. And some of them said that they definitely had less pain in the wrists and in the back after long hours of knitting. Hope it helps.
