Hi, I haven't knitted for about 10 years - was never very good but keen. Anyway a good friend is expecting a baby and I would really like to knit a white baby blanket. I have found a very easy pattern (link below) and wondered if anyone could recommend a very soft wool, but NOT hairy or fluffy so that it is suitable for a baby? I chose this because it is easy to knit but looks like it will still look "nice". Don't want anything too thick either please so that it is suitable for a newborn and not contribute to overheating. Any help appreciated thanks. http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/babyafruffle.htm

Hello
I'd recommend Sirdar Snuggly double knitting or 4 ply, it's soooo soft and washable. I've used it a couple of times for various items including adult items and it's perfect for babies because of the soft feel. It comes in a variety of colours including white. Good luck!

Hi, James C Brett double knit or 4ply would work well on this. It also is a lovely soft yarn and comes in a vast array of colour including a multi colour which is mint green, lemon and white. I have knit shawls with this multi yarn and the outcome is superb. happy knitting, and lots of practise and you will be making lots in no time at all. Get going, you'll be hooked again and your friend will really appreciate the work you have put in. Lots of hours, lots of love and care.
Good luck, let me know how you get on, love to hear from you when you have it completed.
