I've seen several shops and websites promoting bamboo yarn. Has anyone else any experience of knitting with it? What is it like to use and does it machine wash?

I've just knitted a tank in Wendy Pure. It takes a bit of getting used to it, if you've not used a tape yarn before (I hadn't). It's knitted up beautifully, it is really stretchy yarn though. My tension was right, but I made the next size down & it fits great. It is machine washable too. I've got some of the Sirdar Baby bamboo to try next.

I've only just joined this site but saw your post about the bamboo yarn. I used this yarn for a summer short sleeved cardigan last summer and loved knitting with it. Like the other member said it can be quite stretchy but I was very happy with my finished garment and will use this yarn again. Nessa

it felt lovely to knit this yarn BUT you do need to knit a size smaller because it grows ! it is stretchy and might be heavy if knitted in a long sleeve or jacket and therefore grow ! and grow ! although i enjoyed using the yarn it put me off when the bottom went baggy the first time i wore it so next time i will knit elastic (the fine sort) on the first few rows to avoid it happening again/it might be ideal for babies as the garmet is smaller and yarn is soft ?
