Hi everyone

I've only just discovered that I should be using mattress stitch to make up. Previously I used overstitch, worked with right sides together, or back stitch. I am really struggling with mattress stitch, although I can see that it is better than my usual methods, if it is done properly.

Which method do others use?

I think half the problem is that I love knitting, but the actual making up is tedious, when I really want to get on with the next project!

Best wishes to everyone.
Sally

If you can master mattress stitch it gives a lovely flat seamless finish. You could practise by knitting some strips with some odd wool and joining them up. Good luck!

Ive been using backstitch. I tried to use mattress stitch the other day but got in a terrible muddle with it. I usually find that my knitting is ok but then I ruin it all with the sewing up. Im not going to give up though because I love knitting.

You should try to master mattress stitch because it gives an invisible seam. I love sewing up with this stitch because it is so neat and satisfying to use. keep trying Good luck!
